Veralma, an 1850 Italianate estate on South Hill, offers gracious accommodations in a Bed and Breakfast home. The residence of an early mayor of Ithaca, the house has changed little during the last century, although the facilities have been up-dated to contemporary standards. The grand spacious rooms on the first floor have twelve-foot high ceilings with intricate plaster work. The sleeping rooms on the second floor are large and airy with tall windows. The most striking feature of Veralma is a winding three-story walnut staircase crowned by a cupola. The grounds are lovely and include a swimming pool and original carriage house.
