Spotlight On: The Sciencenter!

The Sciencenter! It's pretty cool to think that you can walk around Ithaca's Sciencenter in 20 minutes and touch a meteorite that is over 50 million years old, tinker with a camera obscura, pet a few Sea Stars, and find out how loud you can scream!  But just because you could do it all in 20 minutes doesn't mean you should.

The Sciencenter is full of goodies, whether you're two or twenty. The fact that you can watch a beach ball hover in place from the entrance should satisfy any of you naysayers. But the best thing about the sciencenter isn't all the things you can look at: it's all the things you can DO. And aside from being exclusively powered by the wind, this place is just cool.

• Parents: Let your crawlers and toddlers play (age 3 & under get in free!) in a closed in, age restricted area with a water exhibit, blocks, air tubes, and a padded playpen!

• Lil' Ones: Enjoy the HUGE playground with some of the weirdest stuff you've NEVER seen on a playground (too cool to mention here!).

• Youths: Check out all the crazy animals on exhibit (snakes, spiders, and scorpions, oh my!), build some seriously rad paper rockets, or challenge yourself to some tricky games and puzzles.

• Couples: Explore space and spot the constellations at your convenience - or better yet - make your own while you're there! If that's not enough, find out exactly how hot you are.

• Naysayers: Again, you'll have nothing to gripe about when you get there. Buy some of the wild stuff from the gift store (hey, at least you're supporting a great cause!) and have a good time.

This doesn't quite do the Sciencenter justice, but its a start - and what are you waiting for, get going!
